I can do module and database updates no problem but updating the core software may also update the detection of falsified keys. I'm wondering if updating to the latest version (3.6.1) would break the current key. Malwarebytes has been activated as premium no problem as long as that's in the exceptions list. I know this because Malwarebytes will try and remove this file and under virus classification it says "DON'T STEAL SOFTWARE".
